ActionWorks® System Administration

Overview

This course covers the administrative functions for an ActionWorks® site. Through exercises and lectures, participants learn how to install and administer applications; create and maintain the organization to support use of applications; and maintain and tune an ActionWorks site.

Objectives

Participants gain hands-on experience with the administration of an ActionWorks site. Specific topics covered include:

  • Overview of the components of ActionWorks, including ActionWorks Application Server, ActionWorks Process Manager, ActionWorks Process Administrator, and ActionWorks Basic Language.
  • Overview of the development and components of a ActionWorks application.
  • Overview of ActionWorks and the MS Windows NT/2000 environment in which it runs.
  • How to install, maintain, and upgrade an application using the ActionWorks Process Administrator.
  • Overview of the integration of external data sources into an application.
  • How to create and maintain the Identities, Offices, and Organizational Roles using the ActionWorks Process Administrator.
  • How to import ActionWorks Identities from external sources, such as NT, MS SQL Server, and an LDAP server.
  • How to create entries and control access to entries in ActionWorks user's navigator bars.
  • What functions and interactions the administrator of an ActionWorks site requires from other applications, including MS SQL Server, Windows NT, web servers, and mail servers.
  • How to install and configure ActionWorks in OS or application security models.
  • How to install and configure ActionWorks 's mail component.
  • Overview of troubleshooting techniques in an ActionWorks run-time environment.
